At CCP we have been working hard to expand the gaming landscape by applying the knowledge and expertise we've built up with EVE Online to create a new experience within the EVE Universe in DUST 514, as well as a new video game franchise in World of Darkness.
During the last few months, as evidenced by our interaction with the community, we made some missteps on that journey.
As we reexamine our outward relations, we are also taking time to reevaluate our internal goals. In doing so, we have come to the conclusion that we are attempting too many things for a company our size. Developing EVE expansions, DUST 514 and World of Darkness has stretched our resources too thin.

Players of EVE Online have just received over one and a half million dollars of virtual currency for use in the EVE Online Noble Exchange (NeX) Store as a reward for sharing the incredible player generated images and videos on www.eveisreal.net. As a volume of sharing has reached its second milestone, the epic accomplishment puts another 1,000 Aurum, one of EVE’s virtual currencies, into the wallets of every active EVE player. Future unlocks include a reward of 1,500 Aurum for the tier 3 unlock, and 2,000 Aurum for the final level.
With this most recent milestone, the value to date of unlocked Aurum rewards stands at little over 3.6 million dollars, with a chance for players to double that reward going forward at the next unlock levels.
EVEisReal.net was created as a museum of player generated content and a sharing hub of that same content. EVE Online has the best player driven gameplay and economy in gaming, period. The stories that come out of EVE are both huge and unique, mainly because EVE is built upon the idea of emergent gameplay – that is gameplay that only becomes apparent as massive numbers exist simultaneously in one shared world on one server, worldwide. EVEisReal.net is a repository of a small slice of that greater shared history and a great place for people new to the EVE universe to explore what makes the game into an experience.
CCP, the maker of EVE Online, is proud to announce a crop of winners from the player-voted image and video contests. There were over 3,000 images and 700 video entries, and these are the top 20 image vote getters and the #1 video getter.
