December 8, 2020 – Reykjavík, Iceland – Today, CCP Games is thrilled to announce that full localization for the EVE Online client in the Japanese language is now live.

“Restarting our efforts in Japan is an important step for New Eden. We have learned a lot and have been greatly assisted by the dedicated and passionate Japanese community that has stayed with us through the decades”, said Hilmar V. Pétursson, CEO of CCP Games. “Together with our strong community of players around the world we are now bringing our best version of EVE Online to Japan.”

“This project has been the result of a successful cooperation between CCP, the Japanese EVE-playing community, and our experienced partners,” said Eyrún Jónsdóttir, CCP Games’ VP of Publishing. “This is just the beginning as we will be constantly looking to improve and enhance the experience for our Japanese players, and for all of the languages we support with EVE Online.”

To introduce new Japanese PC gamers to EVE Online, CCP has released this localized gameplay video:

EVE Online is a massively multiplayer online (MMO) science-fiction game of galactic proportions, in which space flight is the path to all commerce, communication, and conflict. Set in the star cluster of New Eden tens of thousands of years in the future, in EVE Online every pilot’s greatest asset is their starship, designed to accommodate their specific needs, skills and ambitions. Featuring a vast player-run economy, EVE Online offers an immersive, community-driven experience filled with adventure, riches, danger and glory. EVE Online is renowned for its scale, complexity, and its gigantic, world record-breaking in-game battles where thousands of players come head to head in a single star system.

New Eden will be welcoming the Japanese community with an official sakura-inspired fireworks celebration today via CCPTV on Twitch at 21:00 JST. CCPTV will be providing streamed coverage throughout portions of the day, and again on 12 December at 20:30 JST with a conversation between leaders of the Japanese EVE community. CCP invites all Japanese PC gamers to come and hear about the exciting activities and opportunities in the EVE Japan community.

To celebrate the release of Japanese localization for the EVE Online client, EVE pilots can get the all-new Zakura Starter Packs featuring Omega, PLEX, Skill Points, Zakura Shumyu SKINs and Zakura Zakitsu apparel that have been specially designed to celebrate Japanese Capsuleers, Multiple Character Training and more. These packs will go live at the same time as the Japanese localization for EVE Online and can only be purchased once per account, up until 20:00 JST on 26 January.

In addition, the Zakura Shumyu SKIN will also be available for the Apocalypse, Golem, Kronos, Megathron, Paladin, Raven, Tempest, and Vargur hulls via EVE Online’s in-game store until 20:00 JST on 26 January. As well as being available individually, pilots can also buy them in the Battleship Zakura and Marauder Zakura SKIN bundles in the New Eden Store, saving 15% on each.

EVE Online can be downloaded for free and the latest, fully localized client will be available for download starting on Dec 8, 20:30 JST.
